Technical Support
We have over 21 years of technical knowledge within the electronic security industry. Our experience began back in 1987 servicing and installing battery operated alarm systems. The detection equipment mainly consisted of door and window switches and pressure mats in main hallways. Glass was protected by unsightly foil tape placed around the edge of the glass. One small break in the tape or cut by something hitting the tape and the whole window had to be retaped.
An alarm trigger from these systems involved the use of big heavy bells that used lots of power. The systems mainly consisted of only two parts. The first was a delay circuit and the second was an instant circuit and everything was all joined together on either circuit. This was a real challenge to find a fault. The system was turned on and off by a simple key.
As technology evolved microwave and ultrasonic detectors were developed but were very expensive ($200 each) and the technology was not always suitable to the environment. For instance a microwave detector would see through glass and pick up people and cars outside causing lots of false alarms if not set up correctly.
Keypads gradually arrived with simple standalone models. The code was changed by moving wires on the back of the keypad in a set order. Bells were replaced by sirens and blue strobe lights, glass foil tape was replaced with glass break detectors and the industry moved towards passive infra red movement detectors which detected a change in temperature.
The first digital panels came around 1987. This was the NESS 5000 which had a press button keypad on the front, a remote keypad option for the entry point, eight seperate zones, a big battery and power pack. The Ness 5000 had a dialler option which allowed the system to report back to base via a phone line.
Ten years down the track we now have high tech cameras which can be recorded onto DVR’s and viewed on the internet. We have advanced access control systems like the Inner Range Concept 4000 with capability of approximately 65000 users, advanced alarm features, door control, lift control and complex timing features over a network configuration. The industry just keeps improving and we can honestly say we have experienced these changes and can share this vast knowledge with you. Very few people in today’s security industry have this knowledge. Legislation driven by the larger security companies through industry bodies has resulted in tougher regulations and conditions. Some good and other directed to rid the industry of the smaller businesses.
Our service fleet is stocked with some high tech equipment such as laptop computers, mobile high speed broadband, laser printing for the on site supply of user manuals and installation manuals. We have onboard two separate power inverters giving nearly 5000watts of 240 volt power from our service vehicle with no noise. We have a range of specialised programers for various panels. We can fix most systems and we currently specialise in service and repair.
