Inner Range – Factory Accreditation

We are proud to support Inner Range (Concept) Security equipment for all our major installations. This includes alarms, access control, door and lift management and complex projects. We are ADVANCED TECHNICIAN factory certified. We will give you the best support and advice in relation to your system.

Lock and Key Integrity

We have attended several sites recently after a break in where there were no signs of forced entry (& they did not have an alarm system). The clients revealed they had either purchased the property or moved in as new tenants and did not change the locks due to the added costs.

It appeared someone had gained access to the original key and entered the premises when no one was home then stole several items. On one occasion it was found the owner did not have possession of all the garage remote controls and entry was gained into the garage where tools were stolen.

Please remember to change your locks, recode your garage door remotes and change the all the user codes on your alarm system if there is any doubt as to the integrity of your security. Your security is only as good as the weakest point.

If you need any advice or a security review of your premises please contact us

Network Locked Mobile Phones

Do you have a mobile phone that is prepaid or a phone that is locked to a particular phone carrier. The good news is we can generate an unlock code which will let you change the Sim card to another carrier. So far it has a 100 % success rate. The good news is the unlock sequence is free from us with no conditions or terms.

Please check any contract arrangement you have with your existing phone carrier before changing.

Our company had two prepaid phones that were out of any contracts or time constraints and we changed to another phone carrier only to find the two phones were still locked and the old carrier would not supply any unlock codes for the phones telling us we would just have to buy new phones.

Just email us at techsupport@dlrservices.com.au for further details and instructions.

Broadband Internet Issues

Please note if you are installing broadband internet on your telephone line. Please check what phone line your alarm is on as the broadband service will stop your alarm from reporting to the control room. We have received numerous service calls recently for this fault. It can be easily fixed by installing a filter at the alarm panel if it is on the same line. Any questions contact us at techsupport@dlrservices.com.au

Smoke Detector Laws have changed

From 1 May 2006, all NSW residents must have at least one working smoke alarm installed on each level of their home. This includes owner occupied, rental properties, relocatable homes or any other residential building where people sleep.

Research shows that in 2005 nearly a quarter of NSW households (27.3%) do not have a smoke alarm installed. (Source: NSW Department of Health Population Survey HOIST).

Smoke alarms are already mandatory for all new buildings and in some instances when buildings are being renovated.

Smoke alarms are life-saving devices that provide benefits for occupants. They detect smoke well before any sleeping occupant would and provide critical seconds to implement actions to save life and property. Smoke alarms are designed to detect fire smoke and emit a loud and distinctive sound to alert occupants of potential danger.

Smoke alarms have been mandatory in all dwellings in Victoria and South Australia since 1999, with 96% and 85-90% of dwellings respectively in those two states now having smoke alarms. Evidence from the USA, where smoke alarms have been in wide use for 20 years, shows a reduction in house fire deaths of more than 50% in those homes where working smoke alarms are installed. The data available in Australia supports the USA figures.

If you have a working smoke alarm you are reducing the fire risk to yourself and your family.

What does the legislation address?

The Legislation refers to residential and certain shared accommodation across NSW and requires:

a. the installation of one or more smoke alarms in buildings in which persons sleep ,

b. smoke alarms installed in such buildings must be operational, and

c. persons do not remove or interfere with the operation of smoke alarms installed in such buildings.

What happens if I do not comply with the legislation?

A person who does not comply with the legislation is guilty of an offence ( maximum penalty $550). A six month moratorium is in place that provides a window of time for owners to install smoke alarms without penalty. The NSWFB strongly recommends owners install smoke alarms as soon as possible.

What type of smoke alarm do I need?

There are several types of smoke alarms available. The Environmental Planning and Assessment Amendment (Smoke Alarms) Regulation 2006 requires that you purchase a smoke alarm that has been tested as compliant with Australian Standards (AS3786) and is marked as:

  • Approved to AS3786
  • Accredited to AS3786, or
  • SSL (Scientific Services Laboratory) listed. Scientific Services Laboratory (SSL) is part of the Australian Government Analytical Laboratories.

Note: Alarms installed prior to 1 May 2006 that do not meet AS3786 are deemed to comply with the legislation.

What does the legislation mean for landlords and tenants?

In most cases:

Landlords are responsible for supplying the smoke alarm(s) and for their installation. They will also be required to install a new battery for each smoke alarm at the commencement of each new tenancy.

Tenants are responsible for the replacement of batteries in battery powered smoke alarms not in hard wired smoke alarms.

NOT A GOOD JOB AT ALL

We found this job at Lane Cove. The alarm panel sitting in the roof on the Gyprock ceiling. The system was installed by a well known company

Well this job had a bit of extra cable for the camera. But where is the conduit to cover the cable ?

This installer was too lazy to drill a hole and put the cable in the wall so they just run it down the wall. This was inside a commercial building in Hurstville in a common hallway.
